Good green grapes must be hard to the touch and have a solid crunch when bitten into. You really have to sink your teeth into a good green grape, like a grassland lion taking down an antelope. Good green grapes are sacrilegious: no seeds, plump flesh, radioactively light green.

Apparently, a good watermelon should have a hollow sound. I like to chop a whole watermelon in half and spoon the flesh right out of the rind. Using a spoon makes little pools of watermelon juice that I slurp up. There's nothing better than a chilled bright juicy red watermelon half.

My dream is to one day purchase a whole jackfruit. Taking out the fruit is labor-intensive but I think they're worth it. I brought a little plastic container of jackfruit into my favorite vintage clothing shop and got to introduce the fruit to the shopkeeper. Trying fruit from far-off lands in antiquity must've felt very luxurious, I think.
